On Saturday 17 March 2012 Magar Association UK, Plumstead Branch held the Annual General Meeting successfully at the Salvation Army Community Centre, White Hart Road, Plumstead, SE18 1DG .

Secretary Mr. Bhimbahadur Rana Magar opened the meeting with the welcome speech and greeted all the participants’ executive members, advisors and members. And the meeting was followed with the welcome speech by Vice-secretary Mr. Jiwanbahadur Rana Magar.

Treasure Mr.Tejbahadur Thapa Magar provided all the financial report of Magar Association UK, Plumstead Branch, SELMMA and SELMYA and cleared the confusion regarding the membership fee and donation funds.

President Mr.Dhanbahadur Thapa Magar instructed to conduct a minute silence condolence for those who passed away recently and highlighted the key areas to be considered in the meetings.

Secretary Mr.Bhimbahadur Rana Magar provided a brief information’s about upcoming events.

SELMMA vice president Mrs.Deurupi Thapa Magar informed about the establishment of Moi Association.

The following agendas are unanimously confirmed and passed by the meeting with immediate effect:-
a. Membership and Donation Subscription fee. There is NO change to the membership and Donation subscription fees. £50.00 lump sum cash/cheque/direct debit before 31 Apr Or £5.00 per month direct debit. 80% to the donation fund and 20@ to the subscription fund.
b. Qualifying Period. The qualifying period for new members to receive full membership facilities from the branch shall be 6 months.
c. Discounted Membership and Donation Subscription. Widow/Widower, sick or disabled magars in difficult situations shall on individual cases be considered for discounted Membership subscription.
d. Budget for Non Member Demise. Budget for non member of the Plumstead Branch demise shall be £100.00.
e Donation Upon Death of Magar in UK. This donation shall be on request only and limited to £150.00. £20.00 worth of flower/wreath and card shall be offered from the Plumstead Branch.
f. Relocation. Any member relocating shall not receive any refunds. However, the member shall continue to receive financial and all other facilities as per any member until the end of financial year (31 Mar).
g. Repatriation from UK. On an unlikely event of repatriation from UK, the Association shall provide his due to the member. However, the cause should not be criminal or inhuman of acts.
h. Plumstead Branch Members Demise. On the sad demise of a full member £1500.00 shall be contributed (after 6 months of qualifying period) plus £50.00 increment for every continuous years of membership taken (with no gap or break) . Add to that 50% refund of any subscription already payed for that year. Same rule of thumb for spouse and dependants under 18 years starting at £1000.00.
i. Branch functions and activities through the year:
(A). SELMMA Magar Maghe Sankranti (Petri Puja) – January.
(B). Main Plumstead Branch Magar Diwas and Plumstead Anniversary – February.
(C). Main Plumstead Branch BBQ – July.
(D). SELMYA Magar Youth Talent Show – October.
j. South East London Magar Youth Association (SELMYA). PMAUK wholly owns SELMYA. Purpose is to support and progress PMAUK. Office tenure will be three years or cease on the Election Grand Assembly in consistent with the present Executive Committee. President and Vice President will automatically become members of the Executive Members of the PMAUK. Participation in external activities only in consultation with the PMAUK. Membership fees will be nominal £10.00 as life member.
k. South East London Magar Moi Association (SELMMA). PMAUK wholly owns SELMMA. Purpose is to support and progress PMAUK. Office tenure will be three years or cease on the Election Grand Assembly in consistent with the present Executive Committee. President and Vice President will automatically become members of the Executive Members of the PMAUK. Participation in external activities only in consultation with PMAUK. Membership fees will be nominal £10.00 as life member.
l. Emergency Fund. In the case of an emergency members can borrow fund amounting to not more than £1000.00 at 1% per month interest from the PMAUK account. Two General Members and one Executive Member as witness and guarantor required. Loan must be cleared within 6 months.
m. Membership, census and updates. Magars from all walks of life (highly skilled, students, elderly etc) are encouraged to take the membership for their own benefit and to share their knowledge and experience to the rest of the magars in Plumstead. Census and updates of contacts is to be regularly maintained by the Executive Members and the General Members likewise.
n. East and Far West Magar Members. Almost no activity is seen with these magar members. Plumstead Branch is to ensure that they are inclusive in all respect and are to merge into the mainstream organization. A representative for each area is to be found and coordination implemented as soon as possible.
o. Points for the AGM Magar Association UK 14 APR 12:
i. Lakhan Thapa Football. The Magar Association UK should concentrate on quality and not quantity of teams, thus, generating less administration with high yield. i.g £500.00 entry free for each team with enticing winning prize.
ii. Magar Diwas. From the following year Plumstead Branch has declared to take Magar Diwas to another level and require all magar in the UK to participate. To do this the branch needs everyone’s support and help especially Central Committee and will approach them as necessary.
iii. Student Sponsor. Can one branch sponsor at least one magar student. We have 10 branches and in 20 years we will produce 100 SLC graduates. The criteria should be a magar and who cannot afford the fees.
10. Notice and Recommendation:
p. Award for artist. Artists who have given continued support and contribution to this association will receive a “Recognition Certificate” from the Association. This will be distributed on the Magar Diwas. Web designers and General Secretary will prepare and produce the certificate each year.
q. Three days TB lesson will be run by NHS London borough of Greenwich, any volunteer are to contact Sudha or Seena on 02086947315.
r. Social workers. Volunteers are most welcome and should contact President MAUK Plumstead. Volunteers could be helpful to those who have language and physically problems. It is a great opportunity to learn more about life in the UK and helping others.
s. PUKMA Video. Annual activity video disc will be produced in the near future. Every member is requested to purchase at least one disc or buy two to send to your relatives and family in Nepal.
t. MAUK Central Committee Budhdha Purnima 2011. A limited video disc is available . First come first serve at cost £3 only. Contact the President.
u. Our Organisation require to produce a large amount of photocopies and scans for programmes and events all year round. This has been produced at the high street and it is realised that it is cheaper to purchase and maintain a 3 in 1 printer. The Treasurer is to research and purchase the best viable printer suited to our needs.

Conclusion. The General Members, Advisors, Observers from Central Committee and Executive Members of the Association exchanged advice, recommendation and hope for the future and to work in harmony to ensure better magars worldwide and in Plumstead.
The President thanked all in attendance and closed the AGM at 1800 hrs.
